a change of page

so, the new digs aren't quite ready (because i'm fussy like that), but how about all y'all come over and visit?

yup. finally taking the leap and moving the blog over to a new host. i've played around with it a bit, and it looks kinda okay, and the toys... erm, tools there will give me more flexibility in managing archives and navigation, which should be all good for you.

the archives will stay here for a while, at least until i'm able to move them over to their new home. that presumes i've been able to figure out all the archiving schtuff... so it may take a bit, and the main page for the new blog may be a bit - verbose, shall we say, for a bit.

which is the long way of saying - pop on over to the new blog, pull up a chair, a mug of tea, make yourself at home over there, and don't mind the drop cloth. or the moving boxes. ;)

*giggle*

as i roar thru the annual seasonal disaffection (which is a fancy way of saying that i'm even more manic than usual), i've spent a fair amount of time reading other blogs, finding new sites, and generally not updating here.

i've bookmarked a lot of them, because (being on the upswing of manic) i don't actually have the focus to *read* everything. too many words! too many damn words!

but there is much goodness out there, and i'm tucking the references away for midwinter reading by the fire, all wrapped up in a warm blanket with a mug of cocoa in hand.

okay, i'm making up the fireplace part.

sheesh.

you know how much of a perfectionist you are when you get pissed off at yourself for setting such a tedious task, but can't quit halfway thru, because that would be all sloppy and messy.

i really pissed myself off today by deciding that i had to recode the rings page for the journal. it was getting clunky. i want it to look nice. what a pain in the arse.

at your virtual service

for those who persist in thinking of the 'net in terms of paper media, this dandy little toy is just what you need.

most *definitely* not my president.

thank goddess for The Daily Show. if it weren't for my TV boyfriend making me laugh every night, i think i'd be crying.

to wit:

There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says: "Fool me once, shame...[pause] ...shame on you... [pause] ...Fool me... [long pause] ...you can't get fooled again."

people, this is the supposed leader of the free world, been let off his leash.

jon very thoughtfully had the whole thing embroidered on a set of throw pillows. pretty much fills up the whole damn couch. ;)

do they make straitjackets for cats?

nice to know that mine is not the only slightly unbalanced cat.

practice saying 'you want fries with that?'

i've been pretty damn frustrated with the quality of tech support lately. herewith, the convo:

me: could you help me with problem a?

he: here's how you fix problem b.

me: no shit. how about problem a?

he: you can fix problem a any way you want, since it's not proprietary.

me: bleeding jesus! who the hell put you on phones?

dashboard samurai

normally, i put my seatbelt on before starting the car. yesterday, i did things in a different order. as a reward, i was greeted by the dashboard samurai. :)
